Welcome to Day 6 of The Challenge!

“For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.”

~

If you think out it, really… God does not have to punish us at all. And if He didn’t care about us, I honestly don’t think that He would.

Have you ever sat down for a few minutes to think about how small we are to God? If you have time, take 3 minutes and watch this video to see physically, how small you are: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpChZxPfa-c.

Physically, to God, we are next to nothing. He created us out of dust, which He created out of nothing. We’re less than dinner peas, or ants, or atoms. But He cares about us! He cares so much! So much that He desires something – our fear. And He well knows that every choice brings it’s toll, whether good or bad.

Our Father just wants to bring us closer to Him, while over and over again He watches us make wrong choices.

Why?

Because we are selfish. We care for our own good and are so busy living out the American dream that we forget what life is for – especially us kids of God.

God ‘chastens’ us in order to bring glory to Himself and for our good. You have to remember that He absolutely always has our best interest at heart. That’s so important. It may just be me, but a lot of the time, I feel that we believe that God is not doing it for our good, but solely His own. He wants our fellowship, friends. He wants to delight in us.

Where your treasure is, so it goes, that’s where your heart will be. Ask anyone that’s in a romantic relationship. You don’t even have to ask them, actually – it’s usually very obvious. Undoubtedly, they would never want to do anything displeasing to that other person. Never. And that’s how we should be with God.

He is chastening us because His love for us is so great, and He wants to show His glory to the nations by bringing us back to Himself. May it be so with you and me.
